Professor Stanley Unwin

In the days of radio wireless, Unwin had a perfect medium by which to deliver his strange tales to a public that lapped up every word.

Professor Stanley Unwin   Are you sitting comfort-boldly, two-square on your botty ? Then I'll begin ...

If Shakespeare is Britain's greatest writer; then Stanley Unwin must be considered to be Britain's greatest speaker.

No other man has ever succeeded in talking a complete gibberish which paints such a fantastically clear and beautiful picture.

Unwin evolved his strange language, Unwinese, whilst reading bedtime stories to his children and reflects a deep love of Edward Lear.

In the days of radio wireless, Unwin had a perfect medium by which to deliver his strange tales to a public that lapped up every world, revelling in its beauty and accrediting him the appellation of Professor.

Now heading through his 80's, Unwin is still active, but will be best remembered in posterity for his appearance in Carry on Regardless and his contribution to The Small Face's concept album Ogden's Nut Gone Flake where he narrates the tale of Happiness Stan.

Despite massive popularity in his heyday, there is very little else that is commonly available to expose his incredible work to the current generation; the internet itself is completely bare regarding other works he has performed and there is only the one photograph ( shown ) immortalising his existance.

It would be a great tragedy were this man, who brought such happiness to so many, become lost in the passage of time. It would be a hard man, lacking in spirit, who, having heard the great Unwin speak, is not impressed by his lyrical and compelling narrative.

Professor Unlow recitely kindly. Delivering joyfull roundness on all-gathering ( sitting quietly-softly ), hanging-roundlow. Deep joy. Goodly byelode.
