Question

During a twenty four hour period; how often are the minute and hour hands of a clock exactly 90 degrees apart ?

Answer

For every hour there must be a position where the minute hand is exactly 90 degrees ahead ( clockwise ) of the hour hand and there must also be another position where the minute hand is behind ( anti-clockwise) the hour hand.

With two possible positions per hour and with 24 hours per day the number of positions per day the answer is ...
