Kenny; where the f--k are you ?

It seems that regardless of what subject matter Hollywood chooses to cover; there is one adjective to describe them above all others - Glossy.

The UK tries hard to match Hollywood in terms of style and gloss ( with The English Patient being a notable offering ) but never really manages to quite pull it off.

One thing the British film industry does provide, which the American, box office driven, industry can't, is Grit.

And this is a truly gritty film; just like a real gangster movie should be.

Eddy and his mates, Tom, Bacon and Soap, pack up their hundred grand savings, take on Harry 'Hatchet' Lonsdale in a fixed card game and, predictably, lose the lot.

As a result of this, Eddy's been taken for a ride for half a million; it's cough-up or lose fingers time.

Luckily we're not in Tinsel Town here and Eddy sets about knocking over the villains next door who, in turn, are planning to knock over the local Dope suppliers.

And this is when the fun really begins.

This is a hard hitting film, delivered with the same clout as Train Spotting, with a deeply black sense of humour combined with some seriously violent intentions although it never over steps the mark into ultra-violence.

If you're looking for slush; try The Horse Whisperer ( released the same week ), but, if you are looking for a film with balls then, British is Best.

Oh my God; They've killed Kenny ! B-----ds ! Oh f--k, they've f--king killed everyone !
