Why pay a fortune for pre-baked garlic bread when all you need is a french loaf
and a simple recipe ?
All servings and portion sizes are based upon a person with an average sized appetite; you can probably halve the servings if you're feeding fat hippies. All cooking times are approximate and may need to be adjusted to suit your particular appliance. Preparation Preheat your grill to a medium temperature. Slice the French Stick along its length into a number of 10cm logs. Slice through each to create two half-cylindrical bread bases. Cut a number of 1cm deep slits lengthwise along the cut surfaces of the bases. For every bases - Take a ½ tsp knob of butter or margarine and place in a dish or soup bowl and add ½ tsp of minced garlic. Mix the two together using a fork to create a creamy mixture; Garlic Butter. Spread the Garlic Butter over the bread bases ensuring that the cut surface is well covered, and that the Garlic Butter is pushed well in to the slits. Useful Tips Freshly crushed garlic may be used instead of minced garlic. Cooking Place the Garlic Bread on a grill pan with the buttered side down and place under a medium-hot grill until lightly toasted. Turn the Garlic Bread over, sprinkly on a little Mixed Herb and/or some Oregano, and replace under the grill until the buttered side is lightly toasted. It may be necessary to spread the Garlic Butter mix over the bread during cooking. Remove from grill and serve while hot. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
