With all the hallmarks of a Gilliam visual feast, this is an epic road
movie of drug abuse, fantasy and surrealism far beyond Cheech and
Chong.
As we crash through scene after scene of drug induced visualisations, observed
from within and and outside of the trip, the total experience is
awe inspiring, frightening, extreme, confusing and in places dull.
The film is up and down and chaotic. The rationale for the biggest mind bender
undertaken by two friends is less than clearly explained and the whole purpose
of the film is equally lost. The mayhem of serious drug abuse is superbly created and shown wonderfully. It
all seems to fit together in a disjointed way.
